Are there any disadvantages to acrylic overlays?

hi my friend asked if there are any disadvantages to acrylic overlays. I couldnt really think of any, can anyone tell me if there are please, as she is not sure which type of overlay to have. I have explained silk and gel to her and the disadvantages but couldnt think of any for acrylic! i am a new nail technician so any advice would be great!

I wouldn't say disadvantages....but there are differences...

A buff off Gel wont discolour but a soak off gel or L&P can...clients just need to look after them more and wear gloves for doing dirty jobs.

They can break down if you change your polish too much with a acetone based remover
