Hi There, I'm new to the forum so hope this works! I've recently booked onto a Belle Hair Extension Course. I've read both good and bad reviews on this so I'm in the middle at the moment. Anyhow, is it true that habia are now not approving any extension courses? Originally I was looking for one that was approved but can't find one anywhere? I've read that people have been unhappy with belle courses as they haven't learnt what they should. I'm not too worried about that as I'm the type that will make sure my questions are answered and will make sure I get plenty of help during the course but I've also read that people who have completed this course have waited months for their certificate and are struggling also to get insurance? Has anyone done a course with belle and wouldn't mind sharing their experience? Good or bad? I have no experience in hairdressing but I am looking into doing a NVQ part time course alongside my current work as I think this will benefit any company I wish to set up in the future. What were people's opinions on the starter jus as I've also read these weren't good either? Either way I'll be going to the course as I've left a £100 deposit that is non refundable and I do want to do the course just hope it's a good as it should be :) thanks xx

Hiya I did a course with them and would not recommend them It wasn't so bad as I was already a hairdresser so I had common knowledge on hair etc but we basically did about 2 rows on a dolls head and she showed on her dolls was how to cut with the cheapest of the cheap scissor like the ones you get in a cheap clipper set we weren't shown how to apply to the sides or anything , the starter kit was again just the cheapest of the cheap but I think that's with most companies you get that, there were girls on the course who weren't hairdressers who I could just tell didn't have a client the end of it hence why there's so many sloppy extensions going about ,that's just my experience sorry it's not positive xx

Hi,

The course is a case of asking as many questions as possible to the teachers. The teachers are there to help and assist you throughout your day. If you feel you need more guidance we invite students back free of charge to the next course. Do not feel worried or disheartened by some of the posts you may find. I'm sure you will be very happy with the skills you learn and can view this are a turning point in your career. We are the biggest training course provider and have been running for a number of years. You have any questions please get in contact directly.

Regards

Belle

Hi

I have recently done the hair extension course with Belle and must say it wasn't that good.
I have a small amount of hairdressing experience so some of it was easy for me to grasp but even still I felt like I could not class myself as a confident hair extension specialist.
When I went the classroom was full of about 20 people which was very cramped. All the practical work was done sat down when it is basic common knowledge that ALL HAIR SHOULD BE DONE STOOD UP no matter what the service might be.
The room got split into 2 groups to be shown how to the practical work was done, this was shown by 1 teacher on 1 dolls head. I could not see a thing!!! I felt like it was very rushed. I then went on to do the nano ring course. I also felt that was rushed, it was over in half an hour, some girls even left after 10 minutes. The way they show you to do the maintenance on the hair is all wrong! They teach you that its just a matter of pushing the rings up & clamping them back down in the correct place, which I KNOW matts the hair.
The theory side of the course wasn't that bad. I came out of the classroom with a lot more knowledge than what I went in with.

All in all I would advise people not to go on the course unless you already know what your doing and you just need to do it to get a certificate as its the cheapest course out there.

I then rang Belle up and asked them about the free sit in course and just got "eeee um hang on" on the other end. RUBBISH!
I do feel sorry for the girls that have had no experience what so ever with hair and come out of the classroom really thinking they can start applying hair extension. These girls have been taught this way and know no different and unfortunately getting a bad name.

Hope this is helpful to anyone thinking of doing the course.

I went on the course and my review of it is also not good. Couple of rows on a dolls head and sent you on your way. It's all very well for Belle to say you need to be asking the teachers questions to get the most out of the course but half of the girls there didn't know the first thing about hair so wouldn't have had a clue what they might need to know. I would recommend getting yourself on another course after as you won't have enough training to start a business.

I've seen some of the finished results from some of the students they have passed and they where absolutely horrendous.

I too did the Belle course and I have to say I thought it was very good! There was only 6 people on my course and we was taught by a very patient, encouraging lady, she answered all the questions and even went over and over with some students! We spent the whole morning learning in the classroom and the entire afternoon practising on the dolls head. Yes the kit is basic but isn't every kit on the training courses?!? I have done lots of courses and always buy my own kit after. The only issue I had with Belle was getting my certificate, it took 4 phone calls and many messages and it finally arrived around 8 weeks later which gave me a headache with insurance! But once you have the cert getting insurance is no problem! I think there is good and bad in all courses, go with a keen learning attitude and ask as many questions as you can! Good luck :)
