i have seen a few threads recently that have said bio sculpture does not work well with tips - can anyone tell me why this is and what is used instead? are sculptures just used?

For me it is not a case that Bio Sculpture doesn't work well with tips it is just that if I want to extend the nail, I find L&P much more effective.

Having said that, I haven't yet used the new Free-Edge Gel from Bio.

I only use Bio for NNOs.

I just find that Bio works much better for sculpting than over tips. When I trained with Bio our trainer told us not to use it over tips. I don't think they teach extending with Bio over tips anymore.

Hi there, I have tried using Bio sculpture on tips before and found that it is just not strong enough and a very expensive way to do a gel nail as it is very expensive! although i hav'nt tried it as a sculpt as i don't really do thm at present.x

Its not so much that Bio isn't strong enough....S-gel is actually a pretty strong gel. It is more that it is one of the most flexible gels on the market, and I find that the stress area of a tip doesn't flex as well as the gel and eventually 'gives way' due to stress, whereas if you build your extension with a gel sculpture, then that flexes and moves with the rest of the gel and the nail.

Its kind of like putting a slightly more rigid pole inside a bendy one and bending it - eventually the rigid pole inside will break. The finer and thinner the tip, the better chance you've got of it lasting (I have done the occasional tip with a CND performance tip - but even then i've blended it), but heck its all a lot of trouble whe the Free Edge gel is so so much quicker, easier, cheaper and lasts so much better!
