Hi Everyone
I'm in a job that I hate, and I really want to do something I know I will love for a living.

I've been having biosculpture overlays for YEARS, and I know that I would have a flair for being a nail technician myself, with relevant training.

I have NEVER had any training in nails/beauty/hair or anything like that.

I know I need to start with the basics, before I can even think about booking on a biosculpture course, and to be 'let loose' on friends/family let alone clients!

The trouble is I have NO IDEA where to start with this. I don't want to get ripped off, and I work full time (can't afford not too), in an office, so I need to do some sort of crash/quick course.

Any help/advice is really much appreciated. I would like to get a job in a salon or ideally work as a mobile tech.

I am miserable at work, and I need to do this.

Thank you all.

Hi

I am also in a job I hate, also office, and am gradually building my mobile nails/beauty around this until I can build it up to leave the horrible job forever.

What I will say to you, as you ask about not wanting to waste money, is DON'T go for a quick course, go for a GOOD course. If you really want to do this, go with a reputable company such as CND, EzFlow, OPI, NSI, etc etc. If needbe, use some of your holiday to attend (I do this, it's worth it!) as a reputable company will teach you the correct ways to enhance nails. If you want to do Biosculpture especially, call them and get some advice. I've never had any contact with them (apart from at shows) but if they are as good as my experience of CND & EzFlow, they will give you all the info you need.

I would also do a search on SalonGeek for training, there are hundreds of threads. Also do a search on here of specific companies that you are interested in.

You are doing it right coming here for advice, if I'd come to the Geek site before training, I'd have saved hundreds of pounds! The Geeks are very passionate about nails, and are always very helpful!

Lastly, welcome to the site:hug:

THANK YOU, what a great forum this is!

Morning!

I too am in a similar position to you. I've been stuck in an office job for the past 20 years and have never really been excited about it! So....... 2 years ago I did a part-time Beauty Specialist course and qualified:) I then started to work as a mobile therapist in the evenings & weekends - still doing this and it's going great. A large % of my clients asked if I did gel overlays - which at the time I didn't (not covered in my course), so I decided to do the Overlay/sclupture course with Bio Sculpture. Attended the 2 day course in St Albans & loved it and am now a qualified Bio Sculpture tech - yay!

The Bio Sculpture course it quite expensive, but then I think you get what you pay for - a quality product, great results and happy clients!

Good luck if you decide to take the Beauty route - I'm so pleased I took the leap. Im quite tired at the mo as still working in office (now 4 days a week) and working evenings & weekends doing beauty, however client base is now growing nicely, so shall be reducing office hours to 2 days a week, with the intention of giving this up by the end of the year.

Hope this helps and I would say just to go for it!.:)
