I have had an on-going severe eye condition for about 9 months and was told that it is Staphylococcal Blepharitis - I have no idea how I got this. My standard of hygiene is excellent in my home as well as in the salon. My eyes are extremely sore, irritated, scratch, burn and I have a type of eczema that has developed at the bottom lids. The eye specialist has prescribed drops, ointments, gels & antibiotic. None have helped. :cry:I was told to apply heat packs to each eye for 15min twice a day and this has brought some relief. I'm one of those ladies who wouldn't be caught without make-up on, but I'm desperate to sort out this eye problem and have gone without make to the salon for a few days to see if this would help - applying eye make-up is even too sore at times. I have been doing nails for 3 months full time and although the Dr has said that the nail products, such as filing, buffing etc hasn't caused the problem, it sure hasn't helped. I am realy struggling in South AFrica to find suitable protective eye wear, our local LCN distributor informed me yesterday that it would take almost 2 months to order protective eye glasses from Germany. Have any other nail techs out there had a similar eye condition, if so, how have you managed it and what can you recommend as a form of eye protection whilst doing nails, manis & pedis. I'm realy disheartened as my sore eyes practically make me fell ill some days. Apparently it's an eye condition that will need to kept maintained constantly in terms of eye & eyelid hygiene care otherwise the problem will persist. Basically once you have it, it never realy leaves. :irked: ANY advice would be most appreciated. Thanks. Stef. South Africa

Your not going to like this but you need to throw all your make-up away that you have used previously and during this condition,
if you don't throw it away you will just re infect your eyes every time you use it,
then not use make-up at all until it has fully cleared up,
then go on a shopping trip for new make-up,
the only time i have a problem with my eyes is if i am too close to the hand when applying the tips, the fumes from the adhesive makes my eyes stream,
as for safety glasses surely if you do a google search you would be able to order some on line that would get to you much quicker than 2 months hth

I was diagnosed with blepharitis a long time ago and it persisted on and off for 5 years.

I, like you had it was prescribed various treatments for some time and it still would not go - until a fellow sufferer gave me some tips.

Keep on with any prescribed medicines

Do not wear any eye make up

Use an eye bath to rinse the area twice a day (use a bath for each eye) cooled, boiled, salted water.

If eyes appear crusted, use a cotton bud, dipped in cooled boiled water to clean (change bud after each swipe)

After a month or so it cleared up and, touch wood, I have never had it again, although from time to time, if my eyelids look flaky, I carry out the treatment for a couple of days - HTH
