In my eyes, it is a complete waste of money! All the money spent on research & machines etc could've gone towards something alot more beneficial.

I see what you mean but they waste money on a lot of things.

So why add another to the list? I just don't agree with it.

I just found something that might strengthen my point
Oxford University debate between Dawkins world leading physicist and atheist v Archbishop of Canterbury discussing the beginning, who do you think won, the Archbishop of Canterbury because science has not yet found an answer for Consciousness, language, fight or flight instincts, moral instincts, spiritual energy healing, regression, O.B.E, etc.
I love science and i love spiritualism both, so im not against science, far from it, but i am against bio-chemistry

That's fine if you don't agree with it, I'm just saying there's plenty of other things they waste money on

I'm not sure I really have an opinion on cloning dogs although I do agree that it's a huge waste of money which could be used for better causes. The idea of cloning humans, on the other hand, fascinates me. I wonder if you made an exact replica of a person, if they'd have the same thoughts/feelings/personality? Does the "soul" really exist or is it purely the result of chemical reactions on the brain? I suppose it might answer that question but the thought of cloning humans is still too huge to me, I would feel quite freaked out if someone did it.

I don't see the point! The dog won't be the same in personality as there would be differences in how they're trained and bought up.

There's a programme just about to start on 4seven about puppy cloning

They've been cloning sheep for twenty years. . Dolly the sheep was the most famous one. They take organs from animals and use them in humans. . It won't be long before humans are cloned. I'm not a fan. I couldn't bear the thought of seeing twenty of my mother!

How can someone be 'against' biochemistry. Biochemistry isn't an opinion, it's a scientific discipline and medical function. The actually very well understood 'fight or flight' reaction is a product of your biochemistry, specifically adrenaline.

Cloning has been happening for years. Horses, sheep, cows, rodents, it's all been done. But it really serves very little purpose in contrast to other techniques - it's a gimmick to make money from people, probably to fund other research.

If private money funds it, I suppose people can spend whatever they want on anything that catches their fancy; it's their money. But as much as I love and adore my dog, I know that once he's gone he's gone - another dog with the same genetic material doesn't guarantee the same brilliant personality!

Just my 2 penny bit! :)

What ? I've been cloned ? I never felt a thing !

The whole thing isn't right if animals have a shortened life and there's high risk of deformities. Put the money into cancer research or something better !

Yep you w1nnie!

Haha no, humans haven't been cloned to my knowledge, though the theory for cloning any mammal is the same. There was a case a few years ago where an Italian fertility specialist was found to be illegally storing human reproductive material and conducting human cloning research with it. Bit scary!

I think cloning is an awful thought personally.
I know science needs to develop but its a form of animal testing and I dont like the thought at all myself.
I dont believe these animals wont suffer and theres enough suffering animals in the world as it is, why on earth should we make more!?
I can see the relevance in growing organs etc ut what can be the benefit to cloning a human!? Will it ever be allowed to happen and do we even want it to!? Probably not, so I also agree I think this is money being wasted that could be better spent elseware.

What are your opinions? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...created-test-tube-owner-wins-competition.html

I think it's amazing this can be done but don't think it should be used to replace a dead animal.

I can't wait until a human is cloned!

Amy,

I loved the programme so much and too thought it was amazing...i would of loved my little doggy who sadly passed away years ago cloned...it's fascinating!

I can't wait either till they clone humans.

It's really amazing just what they can do.I think they chose the wealthy family though as winners so if they wanted to have another pet cloned the could afford it themselves!! So cute the little sausage dog was!
