So I see that most of you wonderful ladies (and gents) are from England, Ireland, Scotland, and other areas in Europe. Being from the US, I'm not sure if there is much difference if any, but is there any advice on how to build a clientele from scratch? My first job was at a place where tourists would come in, no real locals and even there I wasn't too busy. I relocated this past week to a new place closer to my home with an established hair clientele and now I have to bring in my own.

I've handed out business cards and introduced myself to the clients when I'm able to do so, doing little free hand massages, and we've sent out a mass email to our client list advertising nail specials this month.

Any other ideas?

I cant tell if you have children or not as you haven't filled in your profile. But if you have do that have events that you could offer your services as a prize or like I did auction them to the highest bidder. This is good advertising and gets you known by people in your area. Word of mouth is good as the person who wins and gets the treatment goes off and says how good you are. Posters in local shops are good too, hope this helps. Don't forget it takes awhile to build up a client base from scratch so be patient. xxx

Have a read through the Biz Geek forum as there are loads of posts offering advice on all sorts of marketing methods when starting out.

Cheers,
