Business rates explained

Can someone explain business rates to me?

Looking at renting a room in a new business centre do I need it? How do I find out? And what is the going rate of it?

If you are just renting a room you are not responsible for the rates, it’s like a council tax but for shops.
If you are renting the whole building then you would be responsible.
However you better check before you sign up if you have to contribute to the rates [emoji5]
