Hello all and Happy new year!!

As the new year has arrived I, the same as alot of you have been thinking about all of my goals for 2010,

I have wanted to teach spray tanning for some time now as this is my passion, I have contacted a few companies but there is one in particular I would like to work for as I use their product myself and love it, they contacted me once at 8.30am and gave me a phone intrerview I was totaly caught off guard and had a mouthful of weetabix lol I never heard back from them not even any feeback so im thinking it didnt go all that well lol.

Anyway I really want to go back to college and do the PTLLS course this year but before going along and speaking to them I wanted to find out your views on this course -

1. do I need to be uni material to complete it?

2. Is there plenty of help online/books.

3. What job oppertunities can arrise with this qualification?

4. when I chose my subject, can I chose 'beauty' as my subject or do I need to chose a treatment eg. waxing?

hope this makes sense?

If you have any other advice i'd be grateful.

thanks in advance
claire

Hi Claire,
To answer your questions no you don't have to be uni material, you are normally advised on a certain book but if you are taught like we were then your tutor will give you everything you need, but there are lots of books and websites than can be useful if you need them. Job opportunities, it is the first step on a ladder, but will open the door to all kinds of further education teaching (and at a higher pay scale). In terms of your subject, again if it is ran the same as mine was, your subject can be absolutely anything, even how to wrap a present. My advice to you would be if you are serious about wanting to teach just go for it. If you think about it for too long it is easy to talk yourself out of it. I was astonished at how many people on my course were all ready tutors at the college and to be honest, their quality of assignments were very poor with most of them being handed back for more work, where as us non tutors were sailing through.
Go for it, and good luck.xx

Thanks Helen,

Your right you know about thinking too much about it and talking myself out of it, but yes I am serious and just need to go for it.

Im going to phone the college tomorrow and find out some more info.

thanks for your reply
