I don't see why not as long as your contract with them didn't prohibit you from it. Check your old contract just to be sure.

"formerly" it should be, but can't help with the legality, only the spelling LOL

We can't say that where I live (sorry not very helpful to you), the way we get around that is to include a photo of yourself in the ad so former clients recognise you. For example "X Salon would like to welcome Lynne to the teram" with a nice big picture of you in the ad.
