Chickens laying eggs-ouch?

Ok the last few mornings I can hear the chickens clucking wildly I am guessing they are laying eggs.......... It sounds sore. Is it? It has to be its terrible I have to close the windows poor chickens! :cry:

i only just discovered that they are soft when they come out and harden on contact with air, maybe there is a fox around?
