CIBTAC exam query

Is it normal to use red polish in manicure/pedicure exams such as VTCT or NVQ? Or are they just being picky. Plus if I must buy a red does it matter if it's sparkles, may it make things harder or do you think they want a flat red? Head spinning just trying to pick as there are so many. I want something that will give a good finish.
Also I use a Sally Hanson Instadry top coat too but could I be using something better?

Any advice would be good, have been using OPI/China Glaze polishes.

Stick to flat red. If possible use same brand for base colour and top coat. Opi works very well. Good luck

Red because it’s a dark colour.
