Hi

I'd like to know what you use as a client database?

Id like to set one up to keep track of everyone and find out when birthdays etc are and make it easy to do mailshots.

Any help would be great

Thanks

the two main types are on paper and of course on computer, both are governed bythe data protection act, if they are held on paper, they have to be kept in a box that can be locked, and must be kept locked, on the pc the same applies there has to be security measures taken, and there is also a fee you have to pay when you regisster with them, here's a link you might find interesting...

Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998, data protection policy - ICO

I use a Java-based web application which stores the client details in a relational database.

For the Data Protection Act registration, you will want Information Commissioner's Office - ICO (the Information Commissioner's office), it costs £35 per year to register with them if you are a small business.
