Over the summer I took a bunch of color pops away with me to play with. All were the kinds that come with the stands for display and I got them at S2.

Some were the ones that are like a natural tip on the end of a plastic stick and these were just fine, but the ones that are completely clear plastic and not a tip, I had an issue with.

I tried with and without base coats but got the same result where ther polish was almost crackling and the texture of the finish looked and felt rough, not smooth or shiny.

Has anyone else had this issue and if so is there a way around it?

Hi ,

With the clear plastic Colour pops you are supposed to paint on the 'underside ' not on top of the pop . In otherwords the clear plastic protects the varnish/col gel .

If you painted on top this may be where the problem lies

Thanks for your help. Do I take it that these ones are not really easily used to display nail art?

Ahhhhhh, I see!! I had exactly the same problem with my colourpops, but since they still display the colour just as well I have displayed them.

I dont like those ones that look like a tip stuck on a bit of plastic, I just dont think they look right in the display.

At least I know what to do with my clear colourpops now!

p.s Skymark, I've used my colourpops to display nail art and they look fine.

Would a thin layer of clear l&p work as a base? Otherwise, it's rather difficult doing a nailart inside out to appear the right way when displayed isn't it?

Hi

Not used mine for nail art I must admit only for gel Polish so I am not really sure how you would go on with the Nail Art .

If the surface of the colour pop ( and there are lots of replicas of the original 'Color Pops ) is nice and smoooth then I do not see that doing nail Art on the top should be a problem . Just never tried it . Sorry
