Hi,

Which coloured gels would you recommend? I have been using dream gels from essential nails but they are very thin and hard to control. Does anyone know any slighter thicker coloured gels? There are sooo many to choose from!

Also, would you use a layer of clear gel under the coloured gel as this works out cheaper then using all coloured gel?

Thanks for any help you can give xx

I can recommend you Astonishing Nails gels, there are very easy to apply and have good coverage. i always apply clear layer under the colour. when client wants to change the colour you don't need to remove everything.
regards

I use OPI Axxum soak off and I really like it. They have a clear base gel that you use before the colour.

Hi, I use calgel and can really recommend them, I dont use a clear gel underneath just 2 layers of colour and finish with clear gel. It has a good consistancy and doesn't run. They are really helpful an the phone as well, give them a call and they will give you some advise HTH:)

Hi tierra.
As you trained with Calgel, can you tell me if it is true that you have to retrain every 2 years to keep your certificate with Calgel as I read this on another thread?

Hi,
Yes I think that is the case as we were told on our training although my two years is not quite up yet. There is another post here about it I think. They also like you to use a recommended price guide to ensure that nail techs do not get undercut by others iygwim.
I have found the company really helpful and professional and will always help you in the phone if you need them to.
Clients love them as well and I have managed to convert many none enhancement customers, HTH:lol:

Which colour gel would you need to go with Essential Nails? buff off or soak off.

If you need a buff off gel there are different types;
builder gels, for sculpting and tips, or
thin cover gels which are more like paint that have to go over a builder clear gel.
ie;
Nail Creation do builder colour gels whereas NCO London, do cover gels - other companies of course do all these its just a matter of knowing what gel strength you need then looking at the range of colours they all do.

If you need a soak off gel then will you want it to go over EN gel or just use the soak off? then you have to think whether you want to buy with out taking a conversion course. Calgel and Bio Sculpture wont sell to you if you dont train with them whereas other companies will just sell to you.

IBD do both types of gel and you can buy their gels from wholesalers.

Do fill out your profile 'about me' page with more detail though, cos this will really help other geeks to give you advise and answer your questions better. Cheers. :)
