Hi I'm just woundering if anyone can help me i have just done a full set of french tip nails and the acrylic has cracked in some parts why is this coould it be that the acrylic was to wet???

Explain a bit more please. did it crack within minutes, hours, days .. just how soon did it crack and WHERE?

it had cracked when the top coat had dried and i had went out this is only on some of the nails that it seems to have cracked! the cracks seem to above the tip (middle of the nail plate and on some sides).

Are they right across the middle or just in the corners? Did you use a gel top coat? Were the nails gel or L&P?

they are right in the middle and i had used acrylic!

Cracks are usually caused by a force of some kind ... it could be the client actually hit the nails, sometimes it is cause by excessive shrinkage of the product on curing which can be from too wet a mix ratio ... but it all sounds quite odd that it should happen so quickly within minutes ... more like there was no strength built into the enhancement in the first place i.e. product too thin over the stress area.

Did you use primer? If you touch primer on the nail tip it can cause yellowing and cracks. Just a thought i had!

Primer can cause cracking of the tips if it touches the TIPS yes, but not across the middle of the nail right through the product which is my understanding of what has happened here in this instance. Let's not confuse the issue!

hi i agree i think i might need to add more product on to the stress area as some of my nails are fine as it has more product and it was not so wet but the ones that have cracked had less product and i had applied it a bit more wet!

in all i need to make sure the product is not very wet! i was also woundering if i apply acrylic sealer as a top coat will this help or not?
