I went to a Chinese massage place a few years ago for my back pain and they insisted on doing cupping. When I went to dance rehearsal later and stripped off in the changing room everybody went ''oh my God what happened to you?'' And then someone took a photo and showed me my back and shoulders - about 4 or 5 deep purple cup shaped bruises that stayed on for over 10 days. I had to wear turtlenecks and couldn't wear any of the clothes I wanted. I was not amused and would never recommend cupping to anyone. As a massage therapist, we were not taught this even though I trained in other holistic treatments, it is mainly viewed as archaic and not necessary. Be careful if you decide to offer this because clients would not be happy to be left with bruises like that before a special occasion and may want to sue. You should definitely warn them before a treatment bruising is possible.:irked:
