Hello all,

I'm looking for some advice, I have a client (she comes to me for facials) who had acrylics done while she was on holiday in Australia (about 2 months ago), she had them soaked off when she was back and has been having gels done instead.

She is now just back from holiday which is when she had the gels removed and 3 of her nails have now broken almost halfway done her nail bed. She is having to wear plasters over her fingers as they are sore. She has asked me if there is anything which can be done to stop the other ones breaking and to help the ones which have broken.

I have suggested cutting them down to as short as possible to limit the risk of them catching on anything and using a strengthing treatment but
I'm not a nail tech so I'm not sure if i'm missing anything so any advice would be great!

Refer her to an excellent nail tech, who should be able to help her sort out her nail issues. :) If this were my client--assuming there were no problems with infection or the like--I'd do l&p on her and keep them short (no longer than the end of the fingertip) until all the damage grows out. Then we would evaluate whether or not she should try to go natural again. Some people just really need to wear enhancements because their natural nails are so thin! I have my own client with this issue, and it can be very painful for her to go without enhancements.

Good luck, and let us know how she gets on!
