I would like to cover some cupboards across one long wall. The room I'm moving into is an ex-bedroom and has white cupboards and in the centre is a mirror with a small flourescent tube light above it built into an alcove. (pictures are on my profile - http://www.salongeek.com/members/hippy-chick-albums-imported+photos.html).

I was wondering about getting some wall hanging/dividers that would overlap (have seen them in Ikea and B&Q), or bamboo blinds, or even some voile.

The cupboards behind will need to be able to be accessed.

also, would be wanting to do this on a budget, haven't much spare dosh at the moment (well want to spend it on a course I fancy).

Look forward to your suggestions.

Do you really even need to cover them Ann as they pretty inoffensive to me

they are inoffensive and I have wallhangings hanging from the knobs at the moment and a set of Tibetan prayer flags hanging over the top of the alcove but thought it would look nicer if the whole wall was covered.

Personally I wouldn't bother as it could end up looking a bit of a mishmash and it will be a pain every time you try to access the cupboards. My suggestion if you did decide to do it would be to put a curtain pole across the top and hang cheap curtains over them. Otherwise I think they look fine.

Hi Ann

Personally I wouldnt use voile as it is so thin its a bit too obvious what its covering up.

Looking at the pics, if you only need to access the cupboards now and again, ie not during treatments then id be tempted to get a nice looking lined curtain to cover it

You could go for an embroidered voile, perhaps even a nice lightweight tafetta would look nice.

Go to your local fabric shop and have a see if anything catches your eye hun for that?

You could actually make your own professional divider by picking up 2 tracks from B&Q and making a thin timber frame lined with a nice fabric of your choice which is done with hinges on - should work quite well :)

am quite fancying bamboo roller blinds if I could get them wide enough and long enough.
or get some roman blinds made up, but could be pretty expensive.

going in next week to play around, have 3 screens although none of them match and have 3 wall hangings that hang from the wooden knobs at the moment but it all looks a little "make shift".
