Do I file before applying gel colour?

Morning everyone,

Just a quick question i have recently started using gel colours, but am a little unsure about when i do my refining work. As if i refine i would take the colour off. So do i bulid the nail first then refine then apply chosen gel colour?

Sorry if it sounds like im having a blonde moment lol,
Any advise would be appreciated.

Build the nail first...then buff and shape...then clean and apply the colour gel and cure then the gloss gel and cure..wipe and done.

Colour gels are all self levelling so as long as the nail is smooth and shaped first there should be no need for refinements afterwards. HTH x
