I've been manacuring doing acrylic nails for friends and family for free for ages and i was thinking of going mobile and start charging people. I know i'm going to need insurance but i don't have any beauty qualifications. Do I need a qualification to get an insurance?

Hiya,

To gain insurance you have to be qualified and certified in the treatments you wish to perform. Why not take it a step further and look at gaining a formal qualification, you obviously have an interest in the industry........hope this helps, and good luck...

Hi Sarah

Thanks for that. Do you know if the two and three day courses that salons and beauty schools do are any good?

You will need a qualification to be insured. If you are looking to take a short course, you will need to make sure they are accredited by the insurance company you wish to use. You can find a list of Guild accredited courses on the Training Directory of www.beautyguild.com.

Hi,

I'm in a similar position except I'm keen to specialise in waxing. I don't have any beauty qualifications but I am in the process of trying to arrange some wax training through a BABTAC accredited training provider. If I complete a BABTAC accredited course, does that mean that I am able to be insured for that treatment as a mobile practitioner? I would be offering waxing alone as a small, mobile enterprise in my area.
