I had a phonecall this morning asking if I would be interested in free NVQ Level 2 training for nail services. My reply was a polite, " No Thank you. I have recently achieved a CIBTAC Diploma and don't see how an NVQ 2 (or NVQ 3) certificate could help me."

Now granted, I don't have an NVQ in gels, but I feel confident that my previous gel training (total of 7 days) plus my CIBTAC training for mani/pedi, nail anatomy, physiology and hygiene, would rule out the need for NVQ training. This phone call and another thread got me thinking......

Would you recommend NVQ training and assessment if trained to eg. CIBTAC/CIDESCO, ITEC level, as these internationally recognized qualifications are seen as equivalent to NVQ level 3 within the UK? I am by no means saying that I could not improve in, for example, technique or that I know it all and my training stops here so please don't misunderstand me. I am just saying, that surely there is no need for an NVQ if already in possession of CIBTAC/CIDESCO or ITEC.

Interested in you views please.

A CIDESCO qualification is the internationally recognised, in their words "the world's most prestigious qualification," equivalent to NVQ 1, 2 and 3 rolled into one. So it would just be repeating what you already know. A CIDESCO has the advantage of being reconised in many countries whereas I would guess the"National" of NVQ suggests the qualification is not "international".
