Hallo hope that some of you skin-geeks can help me out ..

I have for many years now not been able to use any kind of eye-makeup remover, it is not my eyes, but the skin on my eye, that seams to peel of, i have tried any numbers of brands, bodyshop, Chanel, Biotherm, cheap and expensive products and so on....

The only one my eye skin will accept for 2 to 3 dayes is Lancôme eye remover for sensible eye, but after 3 days it will also stop here, the skin gets red and small pices of skin peels of, and i will not be able to have eye-makeup on for the next week.

This i very irritating, because i would like to have makeup on every day, but that is not possible for me now, so due any of you skin geeks have any adwise to me on what i should do or what kind of products i should try out next??

Hello
This must be irritating and traumatic for you.
Like yourself ive used Lancome and find that one one of the best eyemake up removers.
What puzzles me is that your eyes are sore and "peel" on the lids, which alarms me as the skin is so fragile and delicate.
Can i ask what make up as in eye make up you are using as this may be causing an irritant and you could consider using a different eye make up.
The only other eye make up i could reccommend is Dermalogicaas its oil free and has really good silk amino acids that strengthens the skin and lashes.
failing that Gatineau floracil is the one i use and is the one i use on clients.
It has the same ph as tears and has cornflower extract to really sooth ethe eye.You can also put some onto damp or dry cotton wool and use these as compresses, which is what i tend to do.
Some eye make up removers can trigger sensitivity, but im surprised at Lancome,as it is a very spectacular eye make up remover abd as a rule shoudnt cause sensitivity.
can i ask if you use contact lenses as sometimes this can cause problems?
Always be using an eye gel rather than a cream i would reccommend aswell.
The best one though i would recommend IS gatineau and use it as compresses to really soothe the skin.Could you not maybe not put any eye make up on for a couple of days just to let the skin calm down a little??
I hope your eyes get well soon, sorry i can be of much more help its a shame i cant see you face to face:(
any way hope this helps.
Maybe some others could suggest a few more tips maybe.

I only use Lancôme makeup products, becourse it has always been the products that had worked for me. And yes i wear contact linses, does this have any thing to do with my skin?? sorry if the questions is realy stupid, but i don´t have a clue on this :Grope:

Thats ok i was merely pointing out that contact lense wearers can suffer sensitivitywith certain eye make up removers. With gatineau you can actually remove your make up with your lenses in.
Im not sure for Lancome though.Hth.:)

Have you ever sought the help of a doctor? My teenage daughter can't wear many types of make-up as it makes her skin flake around her eyes too, both on the lid and immediately below, and she ends up on steroids from the doctor as it is a form eczema. You could try and get some allergy tests done too, because then you will know what ingredients you shoud be looking for to avoid in products.

HTH

I have bad eczema on my eyelids and under the eyes as well and have lots of problems with eye make up remover.

The key I have found is to remove any residue of remover once you have taken your eye make up off.

I use damp cotton wool, water only, then apply my eye serum, cream, but only very sparingly.

If I dont take off any residue I find I get irritation,no matter what products I use.

I use Darphin as this is very gentle indeed.HTH

For ages I had a recurring eye infection, which makeup irritated.

Eye cream, antibiotics etc. I tried them all.

Then my GP said that when he was training, he specialised in eyes and was recommended a procedure by an eminent eye specialist he trained under and it's really simple.

I tried it and it works great for me.

When you shower or wash at night, use a clean flannel dampened with clean water (not the water you have washed in) and clean your eyes downwards and upwards in a sweeping motion. Never use the same part of the flannel twice, and put the flannel in the wash afterwards.

I was amazed at how much makeup actually came off despite all the removers I had been using. Soap & water plus the flannel has kept my recurring eye infection at bay for over 2 years now and I am able to wear makeup again with success because it all is removed properly each night. It won't break the bank to try it, hope it helps.

The only thing that doesnt irritate my eyes is my dermalogica cleanser, its the essential one. Dunno if thats any help

I would try clinique cream gentle eye makeup remover. It is the most gentle cream i have ever used. The good thing is if you buy it and it reacts with your skin they should give you a refund as that is there policy. It costs about £13. hth

thank you all of your for helping a fellow geek  i will try and find some of the products you all have been telling me about here in Denmark, and see if this would help, i realy would like to wear eye makeup every day, thank you again:hug:

Some geeks have given very good advice here and your situation must be really annoying and I do empathize as I suffer from eczema on my face.

May I just add, however, that I cannot wear Lancome products especially their mascaras because my eyes swell, itch and burn. I have also heard of this happening to other people where Lancome is concerned.

Please don't get me wrong, I am in no way slating Lancome as they are a highly regarded and repspected cometics house, but perhaps you have slowly developed a sensitivity to their ingredients.

I am a Virgin Vie Cosmetics consultant and know that there are some people who find the brand just does not suit their skin. I agree that it may be worthwhile giving Dermalogica a try.

This is the strange part of it, i don´t have any trouble with the makeup only the remover, and Lancôme is the only mascara that i have found that works for me, and i have been useing all there makeup products in many years. But you are right it could be´the mascara, but would my eyes not show some kind of reaction during the day if it was the mascara there was the problem, and they don´t it is first when i remove it the problem comes, so if we are going to a party i the weekend, then i have to make sure that i don´t use any makeup during the week, because then i will not be able to wear makeup in the weekend, and that is realy annoying

PreCleanse from Dermalogica is a great product for makeup removal... can be used on the entire face. It is gentle but effective.

Have you thought about having an eyelash tint rather than using mascara? :)

Sorry what is a eyelash tint  is that eyelash extensions ??

Hi hun :green:

An eyelash tint is permanently dying your eyelashes, I think weezie cleverly recommended this so that no removal is necessary (where your problem seems to lie). An eyelash tint will make your lashes darker, and appear longer, but won't increase volume like a mascara does.

If the skin on your eyes is actually peeling, I think you should definitely consult your doctor before doing anything else. It may be a case of you being allergic to one particular ingredient, which you can then avoid when choosing products in the future, and then your problem will be solved! Certainly a case for a medical professional, not skin geeks, at least for the minute!

A few of my friends have very sensitive eyes, and, having ruled out any medical condition, could not find an eye makeup remover that did not irritate their eyes in some way. When this happens, I recommend organic extra virgin olive oil, and they all seem to get on fine with this! I personally use Chanel Bi-phase Eye Makeup Remover, but will happily use olive oil as well.

Only thing with an eyelash tint is if you already have problems with irritation we would advise you not to have the tint as it could cause more irritation.

I know that when my eyes are really bad that tint stings like hell.It could be a good idea though when your eyes are clear of any problems.:green:

The tint should not touch the skin with application of vaseline and careful removal, if I was to do this on someone with sensitive eyes I would obviously patch test as normal and make sure I did not go right down to the roots as to touch the skin. It sure does sting if it goes in the eye or if it was to go on any sore patches. This is something to be done after the irritation of the eyes is cured as BABs says.

Random fact:hydrogen peroxide at 3% (same as used in eyelash tints) is used in the medical profession for cleaning wounds. Obviously not with the dye mixed in!

Okay thats what tint is (i just didn´t know that english word sorry geeks)

WOW olive oil, well i have nothing to lose but all to win RIGHT :wink2:

I will give it a try next time i have to remove my eye makeup
