Yes, you stay with the client while applying steam therapy. This is because a steamer has the potential to start spitting (if the equipment hasn't been maintained well and not descaled usually!!) and if this were to happen you must immediately move the unit off the client's face. Also, the client may get to a point when they have had enough (too hot, claustrophobic etc). Every few mins just check client "Still ok for you?".
If you are being assessed then you could get some extra brownie points for carrying out a hand or foot massage while the steam is on.
