Hi everybody,
I am still at the very early stages of researching as much as I can about becoming a nail technician 1 to 2 years down the line. I realise how difficult it is going to be from scratch and am looking in to the possibility of first learning gel with calgel for example, then gradually moving on to acrylic training etc when I have fully mastered the gels and so on through the stages (which is why I am giving myself 2 years).

The first thing i intend to do though is get a manicure and pedicure qualification - it's about 15 years since I qualified as a beautician.
So the question I would like to ask is - should I go for an NVQ qualification, or are some of the day courses available with their own diplomas sufficient. When i google it there's literally thousands of options.

I want to do everything the right way i'm in no hurry to leave my current job these are plans for the future for a change in lifestyle for our family.
Thanks in advance. sorry for rambling!
Jo

How can my post have had 34 views but not one single reply? Have I said something wrong?

No I don't think you said anything wrong Hun , but when it comes to what classes to take its such a personal choose it has to come from you really ? There is loads of info hear on this site about different courses you could do a search and see what others have said , I think in the long run it really depends what you want to get out of it and how your situation is right now, some people pick the home learn route some the collage route and others do product training with a brand, there are other methods but these seem to be the most popular.
I started off by doing an NVQ and like sooo many others ended up doing product training using CND products and I have learnt soo much more they have taken me farther than the nvq could have done .

Thank you. I have read all the posts on here I find it very informative and really inspiring. I am not expecting anyone to tell me what to do I am researching it really thouroughly myself, I was just asking for other peoples opinions so I could make an informed choice.
I'm sure that this forum is inundated with new would be nail techs asking advice so I can see why there is some indifference.
Not to worry - onwards and upwards with my research!
Thanks again for your reply.

This site is probably one of the best places to find out the info your looking for Hun , hear you have lots of tec's all trained at different times , different teachers different products, I'm sure others will be along to answer your questions to :) don't feel sad :)

thank you again - i don't feel sad at all I'm really excited the more i read. I am in a very high pressure sales job in the beauty industry at present with lots of responsibility, long hours and stress. I want to make the change eventually for a lifestyle change so i can spend more time with my son. Therefore anything i come across is 1 step closer to that.
;)

As you say there are thousands of options ... but at the end of the day it is REPUTATION that counts and there is none higher than CND for both products and training that has won industry awards. You can ring 08452106060 to have information sent through to you on all courses.

CND also cover all product options from L&P (Retention+ no primer monomer and no natural nail filing) to Brisa Gels (won Best Gel product over 5 times voted by US technicians) to the new UV3 Colour coat called Shellac (2-3 weeks flawless colour and FAST soak off time) the first Hybrid nail colour coat system that goes on like polish, wears like gel, zero drying time, and comes of in 10 minutes! Plus all manicure and pedicure spa treatments for natural nails.

Welcome - Sweet Squared

Thank you - after much deliberation Ihave chosen to do the CND signature 5 foundation course with the extra day for gels. If I decide to go with Bio Sculpture in the future would this be possible? x

Of course it would, Theo, but I don't think you will ever need to or want to once you have experienced CND products, Gels and Shellac.
