Gel topcoat over PopIts

hi if i was doing popits using l&p can i also put a gel topcoat over this, has anyone done this, i would appreciate your advice

To enable you to apply a gel top coat you would need to remove the shine from the Popit enhancements with a 180 grit abrasive, which is one of the benefits of using Popits, they leave an amazing shine on the enhancements so applying a gel top coat wouldn't really be beneficial.

As Sandi says, you could do this if you filed all the beautiful shine off the PopIt enhancement only to put it back again with a gel top coat finishing gloss but WHY would you??

I find that wether i'm using popits or not i need a uv topcoat, the only reason being that the uv topcoat can't be soaked off with acetone and being a nail tech you're working with acetone quite often. So i like to paint the top side of the nails AND all the visible underside of the free edge with the topcoat, no more ruined nails

also are popits just for full sets?... rebalances are as normal?.

A normal nail tip will not work .. if it did there would be no need for PopIts. L&P is meant to stick to nail tips ... PopIts pop off the product. I can see I'll have to bring some to Australia when I come. :lol:

As for using PopIts in the salon ... I would only use for fast full sets and then rebalance as normal as you say. I am still wearing a set of nails that started out as PopIts 3 months ago and were done by one of my old technicians in a 121 class with her. I have just rebalanced as normal since they were done. They are now just a NNO.

I see what you mean Wanda about a Gel protecting your working nails. If that is what someone wants to do then fine .. it will work sure enough.

Yep, those are the ones :lol: ... still wearing them and my nails have grown completely through. Beverley did them for me when I was in Leeds when we did a 121 together. They are still long and stiletto shaped ... MY stiletto not these cone shaped 'stilettos' that you see now. It is a shape that works very well for me and never changes shape when I work.

Gigi..... I feel so stupid!! Of course the products will stick to the tip... I must have been having a blonde moment... big time...Lol... Yes I think you might need to bring a Popit or 2 to us slower geeks in Aussie ( speaking just for myself there)..

geeg, what about using popits that have already been used, as they lose a bit of their shining capacities?

and then a sealer?
