I started my C&G Level 3 a few weeks ago and we are currently doing l&p which is proving a little boring for me but I thought it can be nothing but good as it's more learning and practice for me.
But I am getting a little worried to be honest. A couple of weeks ago the tutor was telling all students not to pour monomer back into the container when they were clearing up. I sat nodding to my little self, thinking 'yes, that's right, contaminated monomer' and she pipes up 'because it's a type of glue'!!! Is this correct.. I had a read of my course notes from my foundation and my understanding is that primer prepares the natural nail and acts as a bond between the nail and the acrylic and it's the monomer and polymer react to form the acrylic.
Ok, so I though well, maybe she's nervous, new students etc., then last week we were going through disorders and diseases and we were discussing thick nails... I know that if the big toe nail has ridges then it is possible to lightly buff this before applying base coat, polish etc., but I wasn't aware that it was practice to file the thickness of the fingernail down before applying product when someone has this condition... something inside me is going eeeeeeek!!!
I feel a bit disappointed really as I had high expectations for this course as I enjoyed my level 2 so much and was looking forward to getting back into a period of study and learning, now I'm not so sure.
Can anyone shine any light on these two issues...
