Hey everyone,

Does anyone have any advice on estimates for a business plan for going mobile?? for example how many customers a week...how am I supposed to know? its so hard to judge when I havent been doing it full time yet! The adviser from business gateway has been helpful in setting me up the spreadsheets but its putting my own figures in that is the problem!

Its all so confusing!

Any help is much appreciated!

Hi

I'm in exactly the same boat, so although I can't offer any solutions from experience I'll be interested to see what other geeks advise!

I guess there are so many variables! Do you have any clients at the mo (even friends and family who say they'll use you)? I've seen from other threads on here that that isn't always reliable - some people are great when you're doing practices on them for free or token amounts, but then don't go on to be regular clients.

It would also depend on how much you're going to be working. Eg I'm only going to be doing evenings and weekends, so I'm limited to how many clients I could have, particularly during the week once travelling and set up/pack up times are taken into account. So I could work out the max number of clients per week - but I think it'll be a long time before I'm up to that kind of capacity!

And it's early days for me to work out what will be the most popular treatments/how much on average I'll make per week etc. Are you doing the business plan for finance or for your own planning? I guess a business plan is an always evolving document, so if it's for your own personal use you can update it as your business evolves x

Hi,

I did a business plan for the Princes trust a few months ago and had the same problem! Eventually I decided to hazard a guess at 4 clients in the first month, then 6 in month 2, 8 in month 3, 10 in month 4, 14 in month 5, 18 in month 6 etc.

I figured that business would be slow to begin with but after a few months word of mouth would start bringing in new clients so numbers would increase faster. I really don't know how anyone is supposed to predict how many clients they will have when starting out, but the princes trust didn't question my figures so I guess they seemed realistic enough to them lol!

Hope that helps.
Kirsty.
