A Milwaukee-based barbers is offering free back-to-school haircuts and throwing in some free school supplies too. Gaulien "Gee" Smith, owner of Gee's Clippers, simply wants to help families with the costs that come at the beginning of a new school year.
"It's one less expense that parents have to worry about," explains Smith. "I'm just doing what I can to give back to the community and lighten the load when I know budgets are tight."
The salon doesn't normally open on Mondays but did so especially for this event. The salon was due to open at 10.00am but by 9.00am there were already several families waiting outside so the salon opened early.
Richard Armstrong, a barber at Gee's Clippers, says, "For parents - I'm a parent myself - any help is appreciated. That one less expense can make a world of difference - it can stretch the dollar a little bit further."
Until then...geek on!
