Thursday 31st October saw Toni Mascolo OBE, co-founder of TONI&GUY, recognised for his contribution to business and enterprise skills with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the SFEDI & IOEE 'Celebrating Enterprise' Event at the House of Commons.

The event held by the SFEDI Group, originally known as Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative, brought together key figures from the small business, enterprise, and skills sector in the UK to celebrate the very best in enterprise learning and skills.

Ruth Lowbridge, Executive Chair of SFEDI, said, "Everyone being recognised at the event is contributing in their own way to the growth and sustainability of the small and micro business sector, the lifeblood of the UK economy.

"We are especially delighted to present Toni Mascolo with the IOEE Lifetime Achievement Award which recognises the importance he has placed over the years to ensuring people are equipped with the right enterprise skills to make a success of every TONI&GUY salon. His business model shows how investing in skills development can be the driving force behind a businesses' continued growth and success."

2013 marks fifty years of TONI&GUY, a global hairdressing brand that has changed the face of modern hairdressing, not least because of Toni’s commitment to creating a unique educational system for TONI&GUY's franchise owners and salon employees across the world.

Toni Mascolo OBE, said, "I believe it's essential to foster and support enterprising skills in every person in your business to achieve growth. This award recognises the work our business has done to support continued learning amongst our staff and franchisees – one of the founding principles of our business and one of the core reasons for its success. I'm delighted to accept this award and do so on behalf of the team behind our world recognised educational system."

Toni Mascolo also presented the award for the Enterprising Learner, which was won by Alicia Nang of Alicia Nang Hair and Beauty. The award shortlisted seven inspirational individuals that were pushing their businesses and enterprises forward by developing the enterprising skills which would give them a better understanding of how to tackle business ownership or an enterprising role in a business.

Until then...geek on!
