Hi there,

I dont know if this has been asked before (as im sure it probably has).

I work on my own, have my own little salon in my utility room and wondered if you could tell me, if I should be displaying a H&S Cert?

I have all my qualification certificates along with my insurance, but dont know if i should have a H&S displayed too.

I have looked at the HSE website as also Habia, which give good advice and knowledge but cannot find the answer to my question.

Maybe I cant see the wood for the trees....

Thanks
Ang

It is not a legal requirement to display health and safety certificates, however, it displays good practice, whether they are for training undertaken or awards.

It is a requirement to display the health and safety law poster, which is a requirement if you have any employees, and is obtainable from the Health and Safety Executive or any HMSO stationers.

Habia work in partnership with Local Authorities on a Health and Safety Award Scheme and salons gaining this award will display their certificates in recognition of good practice.

Winning an award is always great for business. Habia have found that salons throughout the UK who have a health and safety award have seen an actual increase in new clients visiting the salon as a result of receiving the award.

Habia offer you the opportunity of entering your salon free of charge for a Health and Safety Award in conjunction with the NHF, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and your local Environmental Health Authority.

To find out if it is being run in your area and to register your interest in entering your salon for this award, please email [email protected] or telephone 0845 6 123555.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for that piece of information Kathy i was wondering about this..as i was told you didn't have to if you were working on your own. It does show good practice and that you take H&S seriously if one does display the a certificate on the wall.
