Health spa interview

hi i am a fully qualified level 3 therapist working for myself i currently applied to work part time at a health hydro to gain more expierience as i intend to do my teaching training in a couple of years and thought it would be good for me as i have only been qualified just recently i didnt get the job stating one of the reasons that i hadnt quite got the look for their establishment and that my make up could have been brighter im also 36!! has anybody else expierienced this :cry:

No, not had that experience, sorry.

I went for an interview at a well known spa about 4 years ago, I had hardly any make-up on and had acne. I'm not the slimmest of people and I would have been 36 then.

Although I didn't get the job, they contacted me a couple of months later and offered me a freelance position which worked out much better for me.

They had a couple of therapists that didn't look like 'dolly birds', one had severe acne all over her face but dead funky hair. They also took on a 50 year old, so can't say they were ageist, acne-ist, or after a certain look, so fair play to them.

Re-reading your post, perhaps you stated too much in the interview what you wanted out of the job.

Thats awful!!! maybe they should go to debenhams and employ the dolly birds from the make-up counters lol
I was always told at college to wear light day make up!

hi, i havent had this experience but i think i know which spa u are talking about and they did the same to my friend, she had to go thru a fone interview, then a face 2 face interview and then a trade test..at the end of it she was told she didnt 'look the part'..obviously not in those words tho.
Kylieb- i know what u mean, i got told the same in college about light make up, i then went onto work for clarins and part of their personal appearance criteria was to wear full make-up with at least 6 of their products!! needless to say i left after 6months cos i was going thru loads of make up lol
