Hi everyone, I really hope someone can help me. I Stupidly gave in and let my daughter dye her hair this summer hols with a wash out in 20 washes blue hair dye.
BIG MISTAKE!!! her hair has been green for a few weeks now, she has two weeks left before school and I cant not get rid of the colour. Hairdressers in salons cant help me as she is 8yrs old. I have tried gentle hair colour removers x2 which have no bleach or ammonia in, it did take quite bit out but not enough for her to get away with it at school. Washing it in a clarifying shampoo everyday. Her natural hair colour is a mousey blonde.
I feel like such a bad mum, and I really need to get this sorted. I am just about to try ketchup!!!!!!!!

All advice welcome please.

P.s Don't worry i wont be giving in and dying her hair again!

Unfortunately, if you’ve used a bleach based colour remover for oxidised colour, it’s actually caused the colour to stain the cuticle layer because most of these wash out fashion colours are direct dyes and require a specialist remover.

One option you could try is to crush high strength vitamin C tablets (1000mg) into a fine powder and mix with a large dollop of a deep cleansing shampoo. (You can also use ascorbic acid which is the same thing but available in powder form from the chemist).
Wet the hair and add your vitamin c mix, work into a lather and leave for at least 15 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly, re-shampoo with ordinary shampoo, then use a deep moisturising conditioner as the vitamin C treatment is very drying.

Otherwise, you’ll have to get it cut out. If you cover it with a slightly darker dye, you will get an obvious line when it grows out. That might be preferable, but it’s up to you?

Just a point of interest, all hair colours inc. box dyes, say not to be used on children under the age of 16yrs partly due to evidence that now suggests a link to an increase in allergies in young people who have used these sorts of chemicals on their skin/nails during puberty.

Maybe stick to hair chalk next time?

Hi thanks for your reply, it was a bleach free colour remover, called colour b4. I think we will just leave it and keep washing it, I am sure it will fade eventually, its not to bad since i popped ketchup on her head! its just stuck on a small section on the front of her hair the lightest part.

I was aware of the age on the box, i just wasn't aware of the reasons why or the implications of a wash out blue hair dye! so lesson learnt for us all!!!!

Anyway thanks for taking the time to reply.
