I accidently left my brushes soaking in EN brush cleaner. I just got them out and the handle has sort of swollen in size. I tried to use one and the metal part with the bristles sort of broke off but not totally. Do you think if I leave the brushes open to the air for a while the handles will firm up again? I only have 2 brushes and I think I have ruined them both

I guess you will learn not to do this in future.

Clean your brushes in monomer, learn the product ratio and never "stand" brushes in any liquid.

I guess not many video teaching methods will show you this though.

EN are quite behind in modern techniques.

Ouch. Sorry to hear about this as we all know how expensive a good brush is. Really you should only clean you brush with the brand monomer that brush is used in. If you should happen to get a bit of product stuck in the brush you should soak the hairs in monomer only. I never use brush cleaner. I don't even buy it. In fact the brush cleaner that is held in the belly of the brush can mess with proper mix ratio and can cause the product to discolor. Also you need a brush solely dedicated for one monomer if you use more than one. I have a different set of brushes for Moxie, Retention+ and Radical. I just marked the outside of each case so I do not get them confused. Doing that prevents cross-contamination, yellowing and service breakdown.

Hope this info helps to extend the life of your future brushes.

Wow! Glad I read this, thanx for the tips!

well, we had a debate about this topic the other day with a few nail artists, and we all use some brush cleaner for these emergency situations, when in training you're doing something and someone asks something, you stop and leave your brush "inattented" and BAM. and obviously it's everytime our fav...

so out of the numerous brushes I have, almost all of them had a BC shower already... we don't leave them soaking for hours, we have a special thingy that holds it so the tip of the hair doesn't lean... and I swaer they're all fine and still working, and some have more than a year with me...

but obviously, not all the brushes will survive it (this was another's debate topic), not all the brushes are equal to this treatment, you then know which are the good brushes and which aren't. the "cheap" ones I had when I started all died...

as for having a brush per monomere, that's what I do, along with having brushes for glitters, brushes for nail art detailing, etc. you may think you can do all with one, but why complicating your life?

Thanks for the tips. Feel like a right idiot though. The brushes I had were kolinsky or something from EN. Actually, I just did a set on the nail trainer using just the metal part with brush on end and I did the best ones I have done so far. But don't worry,I will buy a couple of new ones before I get any clients lol. What are the best ones to use, square or pointed and which brand?

hey,
i did a similar thing and started a thread called something like " who uses a CND brush". take a look there.. most of the pro's said go with a "big grown up brush".. size 10 ultra sculpt by CND...
