Hi everyone! I just graduated from a nail tech program about 4 weeks ago. I am actually taking my theory exam today and will be taking my practical exam on March 15h. Here's my dilemma.....while in school, I worked only with OPI products for acrylic nails. All the low odor stuff. I recently got hired at a salon where I will be the only nail tech. The salon I was hired at doesn't use the low odor products that I was used to, which is fine, I knew I'd have to get used to other products, but I'm having a hard time with application. Personally, I think my training could have been better at my school. I now have zero confidence in my acrylic application and I am starting to think I'm never going to get to a point where I can do acrylics at a competent level. I recently did a full set of nails on someone and a few days after, a nail fell off and she said 2 others cracked. I felt like maybe I wasn't using enough liquid b/c when I would go to put the liquid/powder mix on the nail, it seemed dry. Could that be why? How much liquid is enough? How much is too much?! I'm not expecting to be the best at this point, but I thought by now I'd at least feel like I really know what I'm doing. There's no one I know that is a nail tech that I can ask these questions to. Would it be weird if I went into a local nail salon and maybe asked them to tell me what I'm doing wrong? Any help is appreciated!!!! OH! And one more question, what size brush do most people use? I'm using a medium size brush and was wondering if maybe I should be using a bigger one? Thanks!
