I am going to be setting up a home nail salon soon and wondered if anyone knows what I need to do regarding Health & Safety. Do I need to display a Health & Safety Poster? I thought this was just for employees and as it will be just me I'm not sure if it applies. Does the same go for Accident Books, First Aid Kits and Fire Extinguishers?

I have looked at numerous websites but it never says about working from home.

Any Information appreciated x

I think the best thing for you to do is contact your local council for any information regarding health and safety, then your homeowner's insurance. hth's xx

I did ask the council when I was looking into other things but they were pretty vague. Home insurance told me to contact the council !! I'll try the council again and get some more specific answers. I just thought it may save some time ringing round if someone was in the same situation and then I could ask the council more direct questions.

Hiya, You only need the health and safety law poster if you have employees. However this poster is only small part of any heath and safety policy. Basically, as a home salon you have to conform with the same heath and safety rules and regulations as any commercial salon. Some of the things you need to do is... risk assessment, fire risk assessment, MSDS & COSHH, electrical safety/PAT testing etc
