Hiya

Does anybody offer cold stones massage in addition to hot stones? I was thinkind of getting some but wasn't sure how popular it is? Silly question but are they kept in a fridge so they are cool?

Also, has anybody looked at lava shells? I love the idea of them but they aren't available over here yet!:)

I have some cold marine stones, they are kept in the fridge (well mine are in the freezer compartment!) & them in a bowl of ice during treatment - unless you have a fridge in your room!

To be honest I've not found them very popular, except on the face in the summer, and especially around the eyes if they're feeling congested & tired. We all know of their therapeutic benefits but to the client is often remains "the horrible cold bit" akin to tapotement at the end of a massage you've taken for relaxation. I normally explain the benefits of them to the client & then ask if they would like them as part of the treatment. If I do use them I tend to alternate using cold in one hand & hot in the other in the same way you alternate hot & cold in certain hydrotherapy techniques.
