As some of you know I have now completed my massage course. So now i'm thinking of doing the add on in hot stones.

Before I book the course I would like to get all the equipment and not having done it before I don't have a clue what to buy and where to buy it.

Would you guys that have done it please give me some info on...

The best ones to buy - I want the best ones so they don't have to be cheap
and where I can get them from?

Is this treatment popular? and does it really save your hands like it says it does?
How much do you charge to add these into your massage?

Thank you!!! xxx

Hi,
I got my heater and stones as a kit from Ellisons a few years ago. Ive never really had a lot of call for it but then i don't particulary do lots of massages but personally i prefer to use just my hands, saying that though from a clients point of view the warmth of the stones is very relaxing.

Are you mobile? If so, it is quite heavy to lug around, just something to bear in mind. I do have a couple of clients who request the stones still and i add £5 on top of usual price.

Hope that helps x

Thank you hun. I am in a spa and do mobile part time. Well I say part time ...it feels like full time lol
I was wondering about how heavy they are. They certainly look it!
I have a beauty room at home that I don't use so maybe I will just advertise massages for there. To be honest i'm so busy I don't NEED clients for it, so no big deal if nobody want to come to my house.
Thank you for your reply. I will check my ellisons book out xxx

i trained in hot stone massage. i added an extra 10 euro onto full body massage for it, but its not extrememly popular i actually get more call for the hot stone facial than full body massage, the stones i use are the basalt stones as thats what i was recommended and after searching found they had good reports

Thank you hun! I heard basalt stones were good so maybe i will go with them.
I didnt know there was a hot stone facial? That sounds nice. Is there a seperate course for that? x

i know some places do seperate courses for hot stone man and ped, and hot stone facial. but the place i did it with was a day course and when doing full body they showed me man and ped and facial using hot stones, i dont think there is a need to pay for seperate course in it

I do quite a few hot stone treatments, mainly back massage but I also include it in my facial and pedicure as well as a luxury option. If you do a lot of massage then it can be a relief to use the stones to give your hands a rest. I wouldn't like to do it mobile though, because the heater and stones is quite heavy along with lugging the couch about. Also it takes a while for the stones to heat up so you would have to add that on to the treatment time, but it can be heating whilst you do the consultation. My advice would be to do a course first and then buy a set. The basalt stones come in natural and hand shaped. I prefered the natural but some people liked the hand shaped ones. On the course you will get a feel for the stones you like and need.
If you have never had a hot stone masssage I can highly recommend it. I thought it was a gimmick to start with, but the heat from the stones is very relaxing and soothes aching, tired muscles.
It's popular for gift vouchers aswell, as people like the 'luxury' element.
