Hello

I was wondering how everyone does there manicure/pedicure - in what order.
I am just interested to see how they are done differently and why you do them like that. Everyone is trained differently and everyone finds some ways of doing things easier.
To be honest I am just being nosey LOL

Thankyou

hi there
for manicure i soak, do cuticles, file/shape/cut (what ever is needed), apply solar oil, 3way buff, hand massage, polish

this isnt how i was shown as college but on my 1st day at a previous salon i was shown how to do it like this as they wanted everyone doing exactly the same manicure or pedicure and i t has just stuck with me

pedicure is kind of the same

soak feeet, cuticles, file/cut nails, foot scrub, 3way bufff and solar oil, file hard skin, massage, polish

so how do you do yours?? haha

tori xx

I dont do pedicures but here is my regular manicure.

Sanitise hands
Remove any existing varnish
Apply cuticle eraser and solar oil moisture pack
Apply hand oil
Place hands in plastic bags and heated mitts for between 5 and 10 mins
Remove hands and do hand and arm massage with lotion of the month
Cuticle work
File and shape
Ask for payment, book next appointment, retrieve car keys, put coat on.
Varnish.

I would do the pedicure first -
sanitise, remove polish (checking for contra-indications),
remove dead skin with foot file and file nails,
exfoliate then put on cuticle cream then soak,
dry off feet, apply cuticle eraser then do cuticle work,
mask (if required) then massage,
finish with polish.
Manicure -
sanitise, remove polish (check for contra-indications),
starting with left hand - file nails, buff, cuticle massage cream then soak,
repeat this with right hand,
when right hand soaking , cuticle eraser then cuticle work,
also repeat this with other hand,
mask/treatment then massage,
finish with polish - or buff to a nice sheen if its a guy.
Hope this makes sense xx

After reading the replies I thought it might be good to ressurect this interesting thread by Izzidoll.

Yup. totally agree with izzidolls post with regards to soaking. Obviously the condition of the natural nail determines whether you soak or not. I have already qualified in natural nails and i establish the clients needs first and foremost with there treatment plan. I am also at college doing nvq level 2 beauty therapy and have to redo the same nail course to gain my overall qualification (stupid i know). At college we soak every time - like its a vital part of the manicure, and as we are being assesed we do as we are told. If i feel strongly about not doing part of a treatment i will voice my opinion even if it goes against me, which it has done before.

Place hands in plastic bags and heated mitts for between 5 and 10 mins

And i bet that seems like hours if u have a non-chatty client!! xx

For a manicure I:
Sanitise
cuticle remover
Citrusoak
file/shape
Buff
Apply solar oil
Hand massage using hand cream
Scrubfresh nails
Polish
More Oil
