The obvious answer is "as much as possible" and that's exactly what i plan to do in the long run.

However, my current situation is that I'm at the beginning of this career change into the beauty industry. Despite this, I would like to be ready to work in a salon as soon as possible. Within the next year or so, I hope to at minimum have completed and nvq2 both in beauty therapy and nail services.

My question is, will the above qualifications proove to be a foot in the door in terms of applying to work in a salon (not on a self employed basis ideally) or will I need to be nvq3 in a subject before employers would be more interested in my application.

Ultimately, I want to do nvq3s one day and I know this will make me more employable overall, but what i'm asking is, will I be able to be employed whilst only nvq2 qualified whilst working up to a higher level of training?

thank,

Laura :)xx
