but i cant find an answer to my little problem!

I have perchased these funky little nail tips.. the sort you get on Ebay, that are already designed.. I put one on to try.. it said no blending needed.. so i scored the inside of the tip and applied creative retention+ pink over the top.. using one ball for Zone 1+2 and then a smaller ball for zone 3 in reverse.. Zone 3 didnt take properly as when i filed (very softly) i took of some of the nail art.. tried adding more the next time but it didnt adhere to the tip..
I have played with these tips TRYING to take the shine off without taking off the art, but alas.. i keep bloody doing it!!
I want them for a party as they are perfect for my outfit, they cost a pretty penny!! anyone ever used pre-fab tips before? and does anyone have any tips to help me take off the shine without faffing them up?:green:

Pre-designed tips are said to not need etching.. but I dont find that to be true.

Use a yellow block buffer, and lightly swipe across the tips. Don't actually buff them, if that makes sense? Just enough to say that you did swipe the surface. I find that by doing that, my uv gel sticks just fine.

Anything coarser than a yellow block will remove the design.

took your advice and it worked!! Thanks so much :)

This is why i love being a Geek!! I would have destroyed numerous tips before working out what to do.. or worse given up on using them alltogether!!

Thanks Vicky!

Oooh don't call her Vicky ... you'll be in trouble :lol::lol::lol: I've been there, done that and got the black eye. Only joking Victoria, you know I love you more than my luggage!

Have used these & still do, sometimes I "swipe' & sometimes I don't.

If you don't lightly "swipe" with a white block buff make sure you cap the sidewalls and free egde.

Use clear powder or gel to bring out the colour & design of the tip once buffed to a high shine, top coat or UV Finishing Gloss application.

At times if the seam between tip & nail is visible, I'll add a small "swipe" of glimmer powder from CND to even the appearance.

Razzle Dazzle your done:)

Have a great night out

It's a quote from the film Steel Magnolias - one of my all time fave films. I still blub every time I see it, and laugh at all of Shirley Mclean's one liners. If you haven't seen it then get it, you'll love it!
