Hi there
Can anyone help me. I want to train in nails and biosculpture seems the best option to me. I don't have any previous training just a keen interest in nails and an obsession with manicuring my own. However, I have a few reservations:
Someone told me last week that Backscratchers Fibreglass is better because like biosculpture is it kind to the natural nail but is stronger. Is this true?
I am finding it problematic to get information from BioSculpture and am finding their website a little frustrating which is putting me off?
As I do not have any previous training in nails BioSculpture are recommending the four day course which with kit amount to approx £800. I do live in a fairly affluent part of Surrey but I am concerned that in recession hit Britain it will take me a very long time to recoup this investment?
In short, can anyone tell me in their opinion
1. The best system to train in (I mainly want to offer gel on natural nails and aim to promote my business from the slant that gel overlays (is that the right word) is good for your nails?
2. Is £800 a reasonable investment for the return I could expect?
3. Offer me advice on how to work out my prices (I do want to include an option for tip extensions?
4. If I opt for BioSculpture the most popular colour choices?)
5. The cost of gel supplies - I can't seem to get this from the website?
Sorry for the long winded message.
regards
Jilana

Hi, You wont get much info re prices from the site as they wouldn't want the public knowing what it costs us. I would give them a ring if i was you.

I would personally chose Bio over backscratchers based purely on what I think appears more popular...and thats colour gels...and french.

Bio is a great gel and has a very loyal client base....clients tend to ask for it by name...something i doubt many do for backscratchers..?

Its not the cheapest gel around but it does have great adhesion and works best IMO on short/active length natural nail overlays...although i have heard you can sculpt with it...i tried but found i needed something stronger for sculpts/tips.

There are some really knowledgeable Bio geeks on here who will i am sure help you further...HTH x

It's a good product for a soft soak-off gel, but it doesn't go well with some clients because certain lotions, tanning creams, chemicals soften the gel and make it like rubber.

I do like it though, and it has a beautiful colour selection. It doesn't lift, and I do find it's very gentle on the nails and removal is very easy. However, I would never base a nail business off of just one product, especially when some people may need a harder wearing gel, so keep your mind open to trying multiple products. This other brand you mention I've never seen used. It's not very popular in my area.
