Hi Tina,
I know this posting is primarily about promo's but from your earlier mail I guess it goes a bit deeper

Your salon area is relatively speaking new and opened at a seriously bad time .....to have achieved what you have done so far deserves a pat on the back and a BIG well done.

Building a customer base takes time and a lot of effort...you have come so far already and by way of your posting you certainly seem determined to get things rocking and take the bull by the horn so to speak.

Flyer's are an excellent idea however rather than printing your own your supplier will provide these free of charge to you :wink2:.

In addition to this route you could do some sort of cross treatment offer...I.E. with every full set of nails get a free/discounted spray tan etc....this just might get your customer that wouldn't normally undertake such a treatment onto the band waggon of a new treatment.

You could also look to offer a discount on "block" treatment bookings...as well as with a spray tan costing £x offer a top up a week later @ £y pounds...this will help stop customers extending treatment cycles by missing a treatment out just to save money.

I have a scheme running right now for customers of your suppliers :wink2: to help them increase sales revenue during these difficult times.

The main thing at a time like this is to retain the faith and confidence in yourself and your buisness...watch operating costs and make sure you maximise on every sales opportunity that presents itself to you.

If you can sustain your business through this trading period you will be well placed when the season kicks off which is not to long off now.

collin thanks a million yeah times are hard here at the minute but hopefully will pick up. The flyers would be a big help thanks(let me know if you can do them and when) but i feel with me being country i need to cut prices what do you think. One big salon in my area has tans half price at !5.00 thats for a full body. I think there is a gala coming up in my area in feb and of course st.valentines so perphaps i can target these, then hopefully the weddings will start.:hug::hug:

It is very easy for someone else to say "whatever you do don't drop your prices" primarily this is because it is harder to then raise them at a later stage and that of course your operating margin is severely eroded...you will effectively be working "more for less"

Of course if needs must then there is little alternative however it might just be worth thinking about an alternative "half way house" and see if that works.

It is far better to offer a "buy one now and get a second one at half price"..the rational here is that if say you drop your standard prices by say £5 ...its £5 off your bottom line each time the customer walks through your door.

If you say the first one is at full price but your second one is £5 less you have secured two applications and have the benefit that the reduction per application is effectively only £2.50.

Likewise if you were to say pay full price for say a full body spray and get a free (or for a special low price of say £5)top up in a week you will only loose the cost of the solution used for the "top up"...which is only about £1.50..plus of course your time...you also create activity in the salon which has an uncanny way of feeding itself...when your busy you are positive sort of thing.

You can market this as a "special promotion for the month of ???"..this way after the promo time is up you can either revert back to your normal prices much easier or extend the promotion by another month and so on.

This concept can be applied to any service you offer your clients...simply adapt it.

Colin is so right - its not for me to say dont drop you prices but hang on in there - I did and it worked out for me. Round here tans are as little as €15-20 I'm €35 so is Eden above! These salons must of had difficaulty trying to get more monet this Christmas but I did the usual amount for nearly twice the price - think smarter not harder.
I only even discount if i'm getting something - so yes free top-up with every full body is fine as I covered the cost of the 2 in the first tan. Gel toes with gel nails, mini mani with pedi.

Thanks guys i am going to take red and collin your advice and offer something free or similar rather than dropping my price. I also need to be constantly wearing my tan etc to promote i know i've been lazy since xmas:)smack::smack:)SAYS YOU!! But i'm more postive and looking ahead and i'm not watchin that fekin news anymore its making the whole thing worse.
