Hi guys,

I am a qualified Nail Technician..............

At least thats what my 2 day intensive course says i am!

I signed up for a 2 day course covering L&P, Silk/Fireglass and gel.
I learnt tip application and blending, product application and some theory on infills/rebalance and removal.
Very very basic.
If it wasnt for the NVQ1 I am also doing with a local college it would be laughable.
We had to practise on each other and it dosnt take a genius to work out that i had a few buggered up nails!

Please please be wary of these courses unless like me you have a back up plan alongside or lots of previous experiance and just need that qualification for insurance and trade cards.

Even after the course I am still awaiting the certificate to say i've passed! Not very professional at all.

I will be naming and shaming as soon as i have my certificate so others dont suffer this.

Quite a few people do these courses and are not happy but at the end of the day you have to decide who you want to train with and look a bit more deeply into the courses and products used BEFORE you book them.
We don't name and shame on here hun though.
Good luck with your other courses x

I went on the same course as Lemmonie, but in the week before. I too am still waiting for my certificate.
Am I qualified enough to work on people? I have done a couple of sets so far on friends and family and they have turned out really well.
I am nervous about advertising myself to a wider audience. Maybe i will feel better once i have my certificate and i have got my insurance. (I obviously am not working on anyone other than friends and family at the moment until i get insurance!!)
I was really looking forward to getting qualified and getting started with my little business venture 'Kats Claws' but now i have lost confidence!

Any help appreciated!

Hi Kathryn

I'd be tempted to say to book a one-to-one course, but as you have just splashed out on this one it's probably not financially viable at the moment.

In the meantime, practice on willing victims as much as possible until you feel more confident and maybe get a copy of Gigi Rouse's Nailclass.

If I was in your shoes I wouldn't want to work on paying clients just yet, but that's just me.:green:

Hi Kathryn,

I managed to get hold of "Kirstys" mobile number and insited that she send me a company letter headed paper confirming that I had attended and indded passed the course and that a certificate would follow. I'll be honest that took 5 days but i eventually got it and that was enough for me to gain a trade card at Sallys and also is enough for insurance with professional beauty direct. If you want her numeber pm me.

FAO everyone else. The actualy training was top noch and i got alot out of it but the professionality of the company was/is poor.
I would have dealrly love to have trained with Creative personally but financially it simply wasnt an option.
So bottom line, you pays peanuts you gets monkeys!
