Is someone else accessing your voicemail?

If you still use the default password for checking your voicemail, chances are that anyone else can access your messages wherever and whenever they want. Most voicemail default passwords are set at 0000 (4 zeros) If you havent set a new one, all someone has to do (in Ireland anyway) is ring your number with a '5' after the prefix, ie 087 5 1234 567 and they go straight to your voicemail, they'll be asked for a password, as explained earlier if you havent changed from the default password, they just need to key in the 4 zeros and they have instant access to your voicemail. If you havent set a new password...... GO AND DO IT NOW!

I definitely second this...as I had it happen to me a couple of years back. I kept going into my voicemail and gettting told I had 'old' messages, but had never listened to them!

It depends on your network provider but its really quite easy to do!

Good one Seanny!

I cant even get to my voice mail!!!!

I have just taken delivery of a Motarola Pebl and can not access my messages. Can any help me hack in to them so that I can change my PIN???

What network are you on?

depending on your network provider (and I can only say for the UK, not ireland,) not all are 0000. I am with 02, and its a different 4 digit no. I know its different nos for vodafone and orange too...

you need to check your book for the code and reset your password.

this is essential, as this trick has been around for years..:irked:

Orange. I have checked through my book and I am supposed to press an icon I can't find :irked: .

PS I have just posted my 100th message!!!

My pleasure...and thank you!

Another thing to be wary of especially if you're not real big into secure passwords is using your network providers' website to send free texts. If you choose a simple password to login to the site (or if you're careless with your password) some unscrupulous types can sign in as you and send texts from the website which will show up as coming from your phone. These texts could potentially very embarressing as they could contain abusive or suggestive text, or indeed pornagraphic images.

The same goes for those of you with your own websites. I know some geeks have domain names and passwords which are nearly identical. For instance, if your domain name is something like www.bestnails.co.uk, you are asking for trouble if your login password is bestnails. Some nasty webmasters could easily gain access to your webspace and place whatever content they wished to right on your home page.

PICK A PROPER PASSWORD that is hard to guess!

I used this little answerphone trick to listen to all my ex-boyfriends messages after we split. I got him into a bit of trouble too as I would delete all the important messages from work. Ha Ha Ha Served him right telling me a certain girl was just a friend!!!! Revenge is so sweet. :green:

My friend at work also caught out her then boyfriend in the same way and was listening to messages from a girl called Izzy!!

another tactic on this note, is that from the menu option u can change the voicemail message...if un-desireable messages were found, a new answer message that everyone hears could be called for...(not that i would ever ever do anything like this:twisted:

I used to work for O2 and they plus most other netwotrk providers now have cottoned onto this some time ago and ONLY allow you to re-set your Voicemail PIN from you own mobile phone and not the number you were ringing from.

Self admittedly, I indeed procceeded to listen to an old school friends messages when she was on Vodafone back in 2000. She had been renting a room from me in my home for about 8 months, got halfway through putting a lick of paint round it , then just left!! Dissappeared and didnt return my calls but I knew she was back at her mums from surveying the house one night and others told me she had seen her!

I wanted to know what the hell was going on and I used to try to ring her phone and one day hit the star key by mistake and it said, please enter your code. I entered 0000 and got into all her messages.
Heard all sorts of messages, nothing important though. Continuosly did it for about 3 weeks to see if I could work out what the hell happened.
Never did get to the bottom of it. Aint seen her for 5 years now.. She was a bit weird though.

i just tried this on my mate that has gone missing - hoping it would give me a clue as to where he has gone - NOTHING. was well impressed though that i could access his voicemail! everyone at work now are changing their pins xx

I just tried this but it didn't work, just got a dead tone! Shame, i was curious to see if it would work! :green:

so say you got your standard 11 digit mobile number (say 0789 1234567) whereabouts do you add in the '5'?
