do you sometimes find that clients expect you to do every treatment under the sun? and if you were to offer everything you can be excellent at all of them. How do you get around this or do you offer what you like to specialise in mostly?

I'm mainly holistic, so when people come to me they expect holistics.
I have had clients ask if I do waxing, spray tans, manicures, etc. and I don't so they re-book a holistic treatment.

i have done hair and beauty but only really do hairdressing and the semi permenant lashes.
i have one or two (including my mum) that i wax, legs or brows.
loads of people ask me to do waxing or nails or pedicure and i just don't like it or feel confident or well practiced enough to do bother with it, so i just explain that and offer my friends (she's mobile beauty) number!!
everyones a winner.
maybe you know someone that would be better to do it for them and that person could recommend you for your best work?????

xxxxxxxxxx

I stick to what I'm good at, hair. For all other services I employ other people who are also at the top of their trade.
Although I qualified as a beauty therapist, I'm not good at it!
I believe that all our different trades on here should be honest about the amount of practice and skill that it takes to become truly successful. I don't believe for a moment that you can "do it all" at the level that I do hair.

Very true, I always think that you should either do, hair, beauty or nails... BUT I guess some people might be gifted to do all?

I started out with nails first, but totally enjoy beauty more now.

Hey yes I agree. I do all thing nails enhancment manicure and pedicure. I do hair but only cutting and colouring I have never been asked to do a perm becuase there is no call for with my clients. I have a good friend who is a mobile beauty therepist who is excellent so i recomend her if anyone asks for anything else which hardly ever happens. She does the same she doesnt offer nail enhancements so she gives her ladies who want this to me, same goes with hair xxxx:)

I'm a bit of a jack (nails beauty) - and its my choice not to specialise in 1 or the other as I need variety in my life otherwise I get bored. On the plus side - I'm pretty good at everything I set my mind to and make it my goal to become brilliant at all I do. (I start of pants and keep at it till its second nature )- but I have had a long run at the nail and beauty thing.

One thing I am NOT good at is being a business woman - I am a service provider and thats where it stops basically
xx

ok, I do hair and business running! However I'm rubbish at beauty. Years ago I worked with a therapist who had also trained as a hairdresser. She refused point blank to do a haircut in front of me as she said I made her look and feel cack handed! She laughed her head off at my attempt at a legwax. We kept to our own trades forevermore after that!
