Hi

I went to the Pro Beauty show at the weekend - I am now interested in offering it.

I just wanted to know your experiences with clients using it and retailing etc. I've only started my business since October and don't want to jump ahead if its not going to be worth my time just yet.

Thank you

Contact @squidgernetball, as I believe she uses Jane Iredale in her salon.

Hi Pinkdiamonds66,

I've recently taken on jane iredale in my new hair salon.:).

I have to say, it was squidgernetball's enthusiasm for their products which encouraged me to bite the bullet!

At present, I am doing complimentary 'tasters' to entice a sale.

Not really sticking to my original plan of the 1 minute makeover - it's more like 30 minutes!!:D

Hopefully, as my confidence in application and 'knowing' the brand grows, my sales should improve.

I LOVE the product's - and believe them to be a perfect fit for my clientele....mature and classy!
I have also just ordered the nutritional range to run along side.

You WILL end up spending a lot of money.

I ordered the '1 minute makeover gallery', but wish I had ordered the 'Essentials', as I find myself adding to it ALL the time, as I want to have a decent selection.

Hope that helps ;)

Think that's my problem at the moment, need to find something to help me bite the bullet but worried about the £500 a year target

I don't remember anything about £500 per year target....what does that mean?

If you don’t spend up to £500 a year they close your account

Oh...they never told me that, but to be honest, you will EASILY do that within the first couple of months!

As I've said, you will want to keep adding to the range...I've spent a small fortune - hence why I HAVE to get good at 'PERSUADING' my client base to buy from me....and not an on line seller! :p

That’s one thing I’ll struggle I struggle selling

Thanks for the tag @Noodle. I’ve used JI for years but it’s taken a while for it to sell well. We now use and retail loads.

Retailing isn't easy.....even when you love the product yourself.:(

The problem we all have is on-line selling.

Since I took the range on, I have noticed it discounted on line, sometimes 20%+ cheaper than the rrp!

This is obviously very disappointing, but there will always be folk who will under cut you...sadly.

Only you can decide if you want to take the plunge.
It is a high end brand, so you will need to be confident your client base will go for it.
Why not ask before you commit, what brands they are using?
If they are already using quality products, then they will be used to spending £33.00 on a powder...or £40.00 on a foundation....£20.00 on a lipstick.......etc....
If however, they are using a mid - low priced range, you might find it hard to convert them.

I’ve only started up mobile in October, would you recommend it or not?

As @RED STAR says it’s hard to advise. Are you doing much in the way of make up? Is it just for retail or are you doing weddings or similar? We now retail about £15,000 per year in JI from a location right off the beaten track. It’s all I’ve used for years, but we’re really a skin salon. We have a lot of facial clients who only want really good products on their skin and they’re happy to pay for it. I originally got it in to do weddings and to that end it’s paid for itself several times over.

No I started off doing nails, now brows and a lash lift and tint, I just wanted to get into makeup

To be honest, I would probably not advise if you are mobile.

Part of the WOW factor is the display.

You will be at a disadvantage from the off without this.

The brochures are lovely - but it could look like the old 'AVON' catalogue.....
.......just a whole lot more expensive!:p

I trained with JI 3 years ago, then took on the mobile kit, I held a few makeup evenings and did half face, or full makeovers, which went down really well! The RRP is great and like already been said, if you are attracting a more high end Client, they won’t quibble over a £40 foundation. It’s the skincare makeup remember! I have some lovely loyal customers now with repeat orders! I’m just about to open my own salon and I already specialise in Bridal makeup, the best sellers for brides wanting a radiant finish are definitely the B.B. foundations and the pure pressed powders. Plus mums/grans with more mature skin love Dream Tint with Amazing Base powder.

I was at Pro Beauty too and will be taking on the Essentials display!! Go for it, be passionate about it and that will sell it, plus wear some products yourself. You won’t need much on to sell it. Remember, most women want to look healthy, glowing and not over-made... not all Kardashian!!

Squidgernetball also sealed it for me when I was choosing a brand to use and retail.

Good luck!

I think the JI range is amazing!
In my own experience with the brand they are very target driven. In my area at least 8 new accounts have popped up, I like to see it as brand awareness not competition. However due to some over saturation, the regional/area managers concentrate on new accounts. As someone that has had an iiaa account for a while, i'm pushed at the back burner. I no longer receive the exclusive welcome meetings, afternoon teas, morning coffee etc. If you do have an event- I've had some cancelled and offered to an rival (who discounts online heavily), which in my mind is preference. When I have raised this problem, you will get overlooked.

My personal opinion is the brand is amazing and you will do well with it, as far as the company aspects they have alot of staff turnover and so many new T&C to adhere to. Even if you are the top seller in your area you wont get nominated for anything unless you stock all three brands.

Tbh I'm over it, I saw them at pro beauty and i couldn't recognize a single face i knew. No-one approached me, (i went by myself to see if there is a difference) For me I once felt valued as a customer, i raised this in their survey and i still have yet to get my callback! I love the products and still stock them but i'm always reluctant to place orders as this company ethos has changed to a millennial stereotype of sell sell sell. Anyone that is thinking of stocking any of the brands. This is just a cautionary flip side to what I genuinely thought would be a investment into my salon. I have had no support since and i know there is plenty of geeks that will have a positive experience. Good luck with your JI ventures the training is probably the best thing I have obtained! xoxo
