I have always worn gel enhancements and when I did my training I didn't like the L&P because I just wasn't used to handling it. The training was UV L&P.

I have been watching youtube and am wondering should I train with the air dry acrylic powders? What am I so scared of? Is it a case of getting the nail trainer out and not giving up with it.

My question really, I suppose, is the air dry acrylic easier to work with or just the same as the UV acrylic?

Thanks Lorraine

I've not used the UV L+P myself, but, I did feel like you before I was trained in L+P. I was a fibreglass and gel girl through and through and the thought of only having a limited amount of time to do each nail before the product cured scared the poop out of me! lol
However (and this is the cool bit lol), once I'd had the training and was shown exactly how to 'work' the bead and handle the product I was ok and now 1 year on, even though I don't do much L+P I do enjoy working with it and all of my old fears of it are long gone.

My advice would be to decide which brand of L+P you want to work with and investigate the education available as well as educator support after your initial conversion.

hth's a bit

I use CND L&P but OPI has a product that lets you have a longer time to work with before its set. Good for getting smile line just right or art. Its called Absolute. I think you can go to OPI companys' web sit and see a video or information on it. This may help if your worried about produt setting before you can finish shaping. Absolute says its bubble free clarity. Glides into place with a set time that puts you in control of the artistic details. I think I'm going to try sometime in the future. Please let me know if you do or if anyone else reading this has used it and what you think of it comparaed to theOPI Competition L&P. Which I've used before but perfer CND Retention.

I can understand your fear. Gel is ready mixed and ready to go. With L&P there is mix ratio, brush control, air bubbles...
I remember in class we were made to make L&P beads on a paper towel over and over again until we mastered mix ratio, then we had to master the spread and brush control on the paper towel... before moving on to dummy nails & learning to master it some more.
Good thing is most places that sell the product offer training for that product - if not there is always the paper towel method :)

hi i see where you are coming from but i think it comes down to training because a good company will help remove any fear and then its down to loads of practice .we all get a bit of fear of the unknown :hug:xxx
