Okay.. I've been using this soakable gel on clients for about 2 months now. Up until within the last week or two, I experienced NO lifting. But now my clients are lifting at the free edge and experiencing chipping of the product over natural nails. Someone please help! Could it be the chemistry of the client? Or perhaps do I need new bulbs for my lamp? What could it be?! I'm so sad. :(

Do you pull the product over the free edge to lock it in place? it kind of seals it on there. Maybe thats the problem? :o :D

hi, filing the free edge at a angle, almost under the nail will help as this makes the product always a little longer than the natural nail...creating a immediate capping. As above you should always cap the free edge with your gel and then be sure not to undo that cap afterwards with filing it off again.

I had this problem with 3 or 4 clients too.

In my case it was because the clients were wearing their nails longer than they used to (because they had grown with the support of the gel overlay)

Those that wanted the longer length, I switched to Brisa (buff off gel) but for those who were happy to keep them fairly short, I took the length down and continued with the Akzentz options.

I know that this is not a large number but I did feel that the Options was best suited to a fairly short nail. HTH

How long are they going between appointments?

Are they 'filing' in between appointments?

to be honest a SOAK off gel should NOT chip, it CAN lift at the free edge if...you havent capped properly, or they have filed in between appointments (with the credit crunch peeps are going longer and may do a bit of 'self maintaining:irked: at home !) or...just general product breakdown if they are NOT keeping to regular appointments.

What gel are you using?

I'm using Young Nails Mani-Q. It's a wonderful product that I've loved. I called the customer service guy and he told me two things. He says the chipping is caused by too harsh of a polish breaking down the soft gel. And then he told me that their primer needs to be wet when the gel is applied. This will help with the lifting. BUT... I was also curious if I needed a new bulb because it's only been recently that I've been experiencing this. So should I cure my clients a minute or two longer until I get my new bulbs or just not worry about it?

And thanks for y'alls suggestions. I do cap the edges with the product, but I might be filing it off because I do go back and smooth the free edge out slightly.

Thanks guys!
