Hi everyone,
As you know i'm not a trained technician, but would like some general advice.

I've been attempting to have and maintain nail extensions for the past 5 years now, and have used various technicians (both in Australia and UK) and tried various methods, i.e. acrylic, fibreglass, and silk. Although I have not tried gel yet.

When my nails are fist done, they look great, however they only last about 1 week until the start to lift. This happens EVERY time. The technicians have tried various things like using extra primer, and avoiding use of nail oil afterwards, but nothing seems to work.

I've read through various threads on this site, and many of you mention making sure the nail bed is prepped properly i.e. shine is removed, cuticle is removed, etc. which i can only assume, because of the sheer number of technicians i've been to, that many of them were had done this right.

Can you suggest ANYTHING for the next time I see a technician? I think most of them think i'm lying when i tell them my nails lift all the time. I'm desperate to have nice nails! As i said, i haven't yet tried gel, however i'm sceptical that the same thing will happen and am tired of wasting money on full-sets all the time!

Also, i live in Birmingham (and work in central London - Holborn) if anyone can suggest a technician that might be able to help.

Thanks,
Rachel

They don't lift for 7 days you say? So if you were my client I would be thinking I got the prep fine.

The next thing I'd ask you is, do you wear gloves for housework and gardening? Do you oil everyday with recommended oil? Do you avoid using them as tools - i.e. typing/texting with them, levering off can tops etc?

What shape are they? Maybe if they are square they are not suitable for you and creating pressure on the free edge so it causing pressure on them and then lifting. Are they too long (same thing).

It is hard to comment on what might be going on really. Maybe get a GREAT technician and when you have a problem (IF you have a problem) then, go back to her/him. They can go over various senarios with you and hopefully work out the best length, system, shape, how to really look after them properly.

I had a client like this and now we have worked hard, she never has any problems at all.

Ruth is in London.... nailsinlondon (I think her name is - do a search).

Okay, hope this has been of some help.

Go to a nail inc salon or there nail bars in depement stores they can hellp you.

here is there web site: www.nailsinc. com
to find one near you.

GOOD LUCK

It could also simply be a quirk of your nails... my sister has the same problem.. I dont get any lifting what so ever with my own nails, nore do most of my other regular clients.. but hers.. god its like they were sent here to test me.. I have worked out one of her problems on one finger, turns out the way she holds the pen puts pressure on the side of the enhancement causing that side to lift.. but the rest.. god knows.. PREP is perfecto... retention+ and scrubfresh sammy seem to help.. but she still lifts.. I'm starting to think its her nails.

Are you taking any medication or having any hormonal problems as this can be a cause of lifting ?
